The mission of Rockford Community Education is to encourage, assist and engage district residents of all ages and abilities in their pursuit of life-long learning. Community Education is charged with preparing our youngest learners for that first day of kindergarten, educating parents about how to best support their child’s learning, providing safe and enriching places to learn and play when children are not in school; teaching adult learners literacy and workplace skills, engaging adults and senior citizens in continued learning opportunities, and most importantly, creating a culture that engages the entire community in the process of teaching and learning.

Community Education is the reason our schools no longer close their doors at 3 PM, and are utilized over the summer months, are open on Saturdays, are available for community use, and are often the center of neighborhood life.
